Wesley's 19th Annual Case For Kids Walk, Run, Ride Raises $100,000 for Children & Youth in Hamilton
With $100,000 raised on Sunday, June 6th at Wesley’s Annual Case For Kids Walk-a-thon, providing support to children, youth and their families will be a whole lot easier.
Nearly 1,000 Hamiltonians showed up at Bayfront Park yesterday to take part in the annual walk, run, ride around the Waterfront Trails, all in recognition of the pledges they raised… totaling over $100,000. Walkers, bikers and roller-bladers alike were enthused to see sun shining, the band playing and folks from all over the City come together to show their support of providing critical programming for the most vulnerable and impacted in
Limited access and opportunities for families experiencing poverty and low family income affect us all… but when Hamiltonians are challenged to rise to the occasion they often do… and they certainly did on Sunday. The rain held off and as the sun came out, so did hundreds of people with pledges they had collected in hand. They knew that by raising pledges they could make a small difference to help Wesley offer nearly one dozen free and vital programs like after-school support, child care centres, parent and child programs, teen drop-in centres, youth housing and literacy programs that will help shape the future of our children and our community as a whole.
“It was amazing to see a dedicated community once again accept and succeed at the challenge of raising over $100,000 for Wesley to invest in vital programs across the City. Wesley knows that by investing in families, children and youth we can offer opportunities that will allow each individual to achieve their full potential”, shares Tamara Coleman-Lawrie, director of resource development at Wesley Urban Ministries.
Wesley Urban Ministries offers 15 programs at 8 service delivery locations across Hamilton, focusing priority programming in areas of emergency homelessness services, child, youth and family programming, supportive and transitional housing programs as well as counseling and employment services… all to help Hamilton become the best place for everyone.
Wesley encourages individuals across the community to find out more and get involved because when we all make small differences we can make a big difference. Visit wesleyurbanministries.ca to find out more.
Thanks Everyone, with your help Wesley will be able to continue to invest in children and youth so that they have the opportunity to reach their full potential.
